The Barber Betrothed

She poured out blue beers. /They dissolved and vanished./ Pouring it three times,/ as a frosted compound. /Someone told her I loved her. /Somebody passed a bottle./ All gave utmost attention./This love uncovered, /they used as an implement./These things were true:/I loved her before I could tell her. /I cast my vote in the morning./I pulled my clothes on./Lit a cigarette, murmured a popular song./No other love line like this/ink smears as you read it/a concern for beauty, /a stitch in the fabric/ serious magic lets you leap/from the roof to the pavement./She had been there before:/ in cahoots with pledges of tired eyes
