Reverie

Fixated on popping/ a cluster of amorous balloons,/I feel heavy with a glaring lie./I wait all day,/rapt in comic wars,/for a woman who vows to cut my gullet./I stay warm all night but I’m lonely./Thin kid waves a dagger in the sun,/I watch him smile though the diner window./Perhaps she could try/ to stop the clockwork of my insides/
